# ASCII

American Standard Code for Information Interchange

Ein grundlegender Satz englischer Buchstaben, Ziffern und Symbole, jedes mit einer eigenen Nummer, auf dem frühe Computersysteme und das DNS aufgebaut wurden. Deshalb werden Domainnamen in anderen Schriften oder mit Akzenten in eine ASCII-Form umgewandelt, die mit xn-- beginnt, damit sie im DNS funktionieren.
