# Affirmation of Commitments

A 2009 agreement between ICANN and the United States Department of Commerce. In it, ICANN promised to stay accountable and to hold regular community reviews of its work. After the 2016 IANA stewardship transition, those reviews moved into the ICANN Bylaws. ICANN and the NTIA formally ended the agreement in January 2017.
