# Atom (web feed)

A web feed format, defined by the IETF in RFC 4287, that does the same job as RSS: it lists a site's newest articles so readers can follow them in an app. Many sites publish both formats. Do not confuse it with Atom, the domain marketplace once called Squadhelp.
