# DANE

DNS-Based Authentication of Named Entities

A method that lets a domain owner publish, in a dedicated type of DNS record, which TLS certificate or key its services use. Because the records are signed with DNSSEC, other parties can check the certificate without relying only on certificate authorities. It is mostly used between mail servers.
