# DNS provider

A company that runs a domain's name servers, a service often called managed DNS or DNS hosting. It can be the registrar (which often includes a basic version), a web host or a specialist with faster or more resilient networks. Changing DNS provider does not change the registrar, and the difference matters when something goes wrong.
