# EBERO

Emergency Back-End Registry Operator

A stand-by registry provider under contract with ICANN. If a gTLD registry can no longer keep its critical functions running, such as DNS or the registration system, ICANN can move the TLD to an EBERO for a time. This keeps existing domains working until a lasting solution is found.
