# legitimate interest

A legal ground in the GDPR for processing personal data. When a trademark owner or security researcher asks for hidden registration data, the registrar can rely on it to disclose. It must first weigh the requestor's interest against the registrant's privacy rights, case by case. Public authorities cannot rely on it for their official tasks.
