# multistakeholder model

A model of internet governance in which governments, companies, technical experts, civil society and individual users shape decisions together. Policy is meant to grow from the bottom up through open discussion rather than being imposed by one group or government. ICANN is its best-known example, and the Internet Governance Forum also uses it.
