# open ccTLD

A country code TLD that anyone in the world can register. Many ccTLDs are open in this way. Only some of them are also marketed as generic names, for meanings unrelated to the country, such as .co, .io, .ai, .tv and .me. Google treats a list of such endings as generic and not tied to a country.
