# registry accreditation

The approval by a registry that lets a registrar sell domains in its TLD. Each registry sets its own steps. Typical ones are signing a contract, passing a technical test and paying a fee or deposit. An ICANN-accredited registrar still needs this for every gTLD, and ccTLD registries run their own schemes.
