# SMD file

Signed Mark Data

A digitally signed file that the Trademark Clearinghouse gives to a trademark owner once the mark has been verified as eligible for sunrise, including proof of use. It works as proof of the mark. A registrar sends it to the registry to register a matching domain during a sunrise period, and brand TLD applicants also need it.
