# thick registry

A registry that stores the full registration data for each domain, including owner contacts, not only technical data. Most gTLDs are thick. An ICANN policy required .com, .net and .jobs to become thick, but its enforcement was deferred in 2019. The Registration Data Policy took over that policy's requirements on 21 August 2025.
