# uniform renewal pricing

A rule in the standard ICANN registry contract. A registry must charge the same renewal price for every name in a TLD, unless the registrant clearly agreed to a higher price when first registering. Qualified marketing programs are another exception. It stops a registry from raising the price of one name because its site became successful.
