# urgent request

A request for hidden registration data in an emergency: an imminent threat to life, of serious injury, to critical infrastructure or of child exploitation. ICANN revised the Registration Data Policy in May 2026 to require an answer within 24 hours, but the rule applies only once a way to authenticate law enforcement requestors is in place.
