# WSIS

World Summit on the Information Society

A United Nations summit held in 2003 and 2005 that set shared goals for the digital world. It produced the working definition of internet governance and created the IGF. Its 20-year review, called WSIS+20, ended in December 2025 and backed the multistakeholder approach.
