Dominio di primo livello generico creato tramite il Programma dei nuovi gTLD dell'ICANN, a partire dal round del 2012. Ne sono esempi .shop, .app e .berlin. Il nome li distingue dalle estensioni più vecchie, come .com o .org, che il settore chiama TLD storici (legacy TLD).
