# GMO group backs 56 of 61 Japanese brand gTLD applications in 2026 round

GMO Internet Group says its subsidiaries GMO Brand Security and GMO Domain Registry supported 56 of 61 dot-brand new gTLD applications filed by Japanese companies in ICANN’s 2026 round, giving it a roughly 92% share. GMO Brand Security handled 53 applications and GMO Domain Registry handled 3. ICANN reported 1,615 total new gTLD applications worldwide, including 333 brand applications.
