# GoDaddy applies for 77 new top-level domains

## in plain words

GoDaddy is a big domain name company. It wants to create 77 new website endings, like .labs or .airo. This is part of a process run by ICANN, the organization that manages internet addresses. GoDaddy mostly skipped the last big round of new endings years ago, but this time it is applying for a lot.

GoDaddy, the world’s largest domain name registrar, has applied for 77 new top level domains through its registry subsidiary in ICANN’s 2026 expansion round. The company largely stayed out of the 2012 round of new TLD applications, but built up its registry portfolio afterward, including through its 2020 acquisition of Neustar’s registry business and subsequent acquisitions of other companies’ TLDs, such as .club, .design and .xxx.

Sixty-six of GoDaddy’s 77 applications overlap with strings applied for by other companies, meaning GoDaddy will likely need to spend heavily in contention resolution to ultimately operate many of the domains. Some matches could also be affected by ICANN’s new rule barring singular and plural versions of the same string.

Among the notable applications is .Airo, GoDaddy’s only dot-brand bid, named after its AI platform; the company already runs .godaddy from the previous round. It also applied for .ANS and .agentID, tied to its work using DNS for identifying AI agents, with .ansid as a backup string. The most contested application is .Labs, tied with .agent as the most-sought string in the round, with thirteen companies seeking .lab or .labs.

GoDaddy’s full list of primary applications spans a wide range of everyday and tech-related terms, including .api, .brand, .crm, .drone, .hub, .robot, .wallet and .zen, among others.
