# SK-NIC opens .sk domain auctions for October 14 to 21, 2026

SK-NIC runs the .sk internet address system for Slovakia. It is holding a round of auctions where people can bid for short or special .sk web addresses. Bidders must log in and keep a deposit of 500 euros in their account.

SK-NIC, the administrator of the .sk top-level domain, will start its next round of auctions for unique .sk domains on October 14, 2026, at 3:00 PM CET or CEST. The auctions run from October 14 to 21, 2026, and the registry has published a list of the domains selected for this round.

The SK-NIC auction system gives users the right to register unique .sk domains, such as those with one, two or three characters. Winning an auction does not register the domain itself. Winners must contact a .sk registrar to complete the registration. Holders of trademarks may also have access to a priority phase before the auction, under conditions set out on a separate page.

To bid, users must create an account and log in, then deposit funds for the auction collateral, which is currently EUR 500. Funds can be added by online transfer or credit card. The registry recommends adding a reasonably large amount, because small euro amounts may lead to bank or administrative fees. Bidders can match the starting price or raise the current bid by the minimum amount, and an automatic bidding function can bid up to a set maximum.

Starting prices depend on the domain. Two-character .sk domains start at EUR 1000, one-character non-numeric domains at EUR 1500, and one-character numeric domains and domains with more than two characters at EUR 2000, all excluding VAT. Domains are added to auctions in groups about once a month, usually on the 15th.

The collateral stays blocked for each active auction until it ends. If a bidder wins, the deposit is deducted from the winning amount. Otherwise it is returned as credit. The registrant named for a won domain must have the same data as the auction winner, although a later transfer to another holder is not restricted.
