# Squarespace applies for 15 new top level domains

Squarespace, one of the largest domain registrars following its 2023 acquisition of Google Domains, has applied with ICANN for 15 new top level domains including .brand, .chef, .gym, .hub and .venue. GoDaddy is competing for nine of the same strings, while only .member, .planner, .trainer and .venue have no rival applicants.

## in plain words

Squarespace, a big company that sells website addresses, wants to run 15 new internet extensions like .gym and .venue. It is now also trying to become a domain registry, not just a seller. Rival GoDaddy applied for many of the same names, so there could be competition for most of them.
