# XYZ.com applies for 139 new top level domains in 2026 round

## in plain words

A company called XYZ.com, which already runs .xyz and other web address endings, has asked for 139 new ones. This is part of a big round where companies apply to create new domain extensions, like .shop or .club. XYZ.com is one of the biggest applicants this time. Some of its requested names are unique, but many others are wanted by several companies at once, so there will be fights over who gets them.

XYZ.com LLC, the company led by Daniel Negari that operates .xyz and 34 other top level domains, has applied for 139 new top level domain names in the current application round, according to Domain Name Wire’s count, making it the third-largest applicant overall. The company currently manages 35 extensions, many of which it acquired from other registries rather than applying for directly in the original 2012 round.

Of the 139 applications, 39 appear to be uncontested, a higher share than several competitors achieve. These uncontested strings include .ass, .automation, .bao, .bay, .body, .chi, .cmo, .cosmetics, .defense, .electric, .ent, .gas, .hvac, .industrial, .interiors, .jia, .kai, .lake, .learning, .mad, .mag, .nova, .nut, .ranch, .scam, .sea, .stone, .street, .summit, .sus, .ten, .tex, .unlimited, .van, .via, .war, .water, .west and .wood. Among these, .bao and some others target the Chinese market, where XYZ.com already has a large registration base, and .tex could draw attention from the State of Texas over possible opposition.

The remaining applications place XYZ.com into many of the round’s most heavily contested fights. Strings such as .agent and .labs each have 12 rival applicants, .bit has 10, and .api and .brand each have 9. Other contested strings with multiple competing applicants include .hub, .pop, .max, .official, .pod, .zen, .connect, .firm, .key, .mind, .therapy, .gaming, .gen, .mart, .omg, .portal, .wealth and dozens more down to single-rival contests like .apparel, .bakery and .roofing. These contention sets will need to be resolved before any new registry operator, including XYZ.com, can move forward with launching the extensions.
