auDA, the administrator of Australia’s .au domain space, has reversed a rule that would have required registrants of .com.au and .net.au names to hold a matching trademark or company name. Existing registrants are now exempt, while new registrants must meet the requirement.

Abion buys Brandsec's corporate domain management business

Intellectual property and domain management company Abion has acquired the corporate domain management business of Brandsec, which is based in Australia and New Zealand. Abion, formerly Ports Group, says the deal will help it expand in those two markets, while its main presence remains in Europe. Brandsec's separate digital risk and brand protection business is not part of the transaction.
