lame delegation

A fault in which a domain is delegated to a name server A server that holds a domain's DNS records and answers lookups. Full definition of name server that does not actually answer for it. The server may be switched off, wrongly set up or run by a provider the owner has left. It slows or breaks lookups and can leave the domain open to takeover.
