The .gt domain registry in Guatemala has named Carlos Lemus de León as its new director, following a farewell tribute to outgoing director Luis Furlán in recognition of his career. Lemus de León is a systems engineer with a master's degree in business administration and more than 17 years of experience in information technology, having led digital transformation and operations optimization projects for multinational and regional companies in telecommunications, financial services, education and manufacturing.

Lemus de León said taking on the role was an honor and a major responsibility toward Guatemala's digital ecosystem. He said his priority would be applying his digital transformation experience to strengthen the registry's infrastructure, ensuring it meets high industry standards, and to provide users with an efficient, agile and reliable service that supports the growth of the country's digital identity.
LACTLD also recognized the .gt registry's 27 years of operation and its ongoing commitment to the association, and thanked Furlán for his contributions to the development of the internet in Guatemala and to the regional ccTLD community.
